All of Crystal Pite’s magical creativity is evident in SHORT WORKS: 24 which presents twenty four short pieces, each about a minute long, interrupted by interludes of darkness. This stylistic exercise, recalling with its title and structure the cinematographic 24 frame per second standard exposure rate, marshals eleven dancers on stage. Inventive, original and energetic, Crystal Pite’s choreography opens the spectator to twenty-four different worlds, each revealing treasures of imagination and a surprising vivacity.
Since premiering in 2001, SHORT WORKS: 24, has been heartily praised by critics all over the world.

“Short Works: 24 is a pure delight. As its title suggests, it consists of 24 short pieces, in which the interpreters'; personalities shine happily through. It is a true work of gestural exploration - the five years Crystal Pite spent with William Forsythe's Frankfurt Ballet have given her remarkable assurance and solidity.”
LE DEVOIR, Montréal, 2002
“Inspired, precise and original, the gestural expressions of this 30 year old creator, Crystal Pite, are remarkably well mastered and served by the eleven dancers (...).”
VOIR, Montréal, 2002
“(...) there are so many discoveries, flashes of inspiration, and talent in these minute-long pieces that follow one another without interruption, forming unforgettable worlds whose images parade in flurries through our minds.”
