BJM – Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal is looking for its next artistic director. to lead the Company into a new era of innovation!

Founded in 1972, BJM is an internationally renowned repertory company that creates, produces and presents contemporary ballet performances around the world.

Over the span of its nearly 50-year history, the Company has brought outstanding musicality and artistic interpretation to nearly 3 million spectators across the globe, with over 2,600 shows presented in 68 countries to date.

The Company consistently attracts top artists – many of whom are passionate up-and-coming performers, choreographers, directors and designers eager to create unique artistic projects for the world stage.

Ready for a new artistic adventure?

The Company is currently seeking a new artistic director who can usher BJM’s storied history and DNA into new era of prolific and innovative creations of world-class calibre.

BJM’s artistic director brings the Company’s artistic vision and direction to life, while serving as a steward of the company’s ongoing mission of democratizing art by making it accessible to all.

The artistic director is responsible for all decisions relating to programming.

He or she participates in strategic planning and essential administrative processes, develops artistic partnerships and cultivates links with collaborators and co-producers. As BJM’s “captain,” the artistic director is at the heart of all performance and promotional activities and will be on tour for much of the year, representing the Company worldwide.

The artistic director must have intimate knowledge of the dance world and where it’s headed, particularly in the professional milieu, both in Canada and abroad. He or she must be an effective and charismatic leader with recognized experience and management skills. He or she must also be comfortable working with new media. Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset. The artistic director must embrace the Company’s values of respect, openness and happiness at work, and be able to communicate and promote these values at all times.
