The Eva von Gencsy
Fund

As the company celebrates its 50th anniversary, we are pleased to re-launch the Eva von Gencsy Fund and reaffirm our commitment to creating an environment that facilitates the development of young artists and emerging dancers.

This bursary program pays tribute to one of the co-founders of the company, choreographer Eva von Gencsy, whose passion for jazz and ballet dance was passed on to a whole generation of young dancers through her dance school. Just like Eva, Ballets Jazz Montreal wishes to pass along our vision and love for dance, and in the process, create a healthy and fulfilling environment for young dancers.

Launched in May 2013, the Eva von Gencsy Fund was originally dedicated to the training of up-and-coming dancers from Quebec and Canada, allowing them to complete a professional internship with the company. Since its creation, this scholarship allowed us to welcome 5 interns who then became full company members. Moreover, these dancers have gone off to have successful international careers with the knowledge and experience that they gained as a result of their time with the company.

As we relaunch this program, we wish to diversify how this fund is utilized, broaden who has access to the funds and offer a wider range of programs. Through workshops, internships, and mentorship programs, we believe that our company provides a rich environment to train and shape young talent in an enriching educational atmosphere.

Your gift will allow us to endow the Eva von Gencsy Fund and give back to the dance community. We are committed to expanding these programs each year and making them even more accessible to future talent from diverse backgrounds.

With your support, you play an active role in growing future artistic talent. We are counting on you!
