After an international tour as a dancer with the American troupe Up With People, Stéphane Labbé continued his studies in contemporary dance at Concordia University and the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, completing his training in 2002. He danced in Jacques Languirand's Man inc. and took part in three film productions choreographed by Estelle Clareton, Hélène Blackburn and Danielle Tardif between 2001 and 2003. In 2004, Stéphane joined Tangente as Production Manager and became Programming Assistant in 2006. From 2010 to 2013, he shared general and artistic co-directorship with co-founder Dena Davida before becoming general manager in 2013. Stéphane has served on the boards of La Danse sur les routes du Québec and Mandala Sitù. He was also president of Chantier Relève disciplinaire at the 2009 Grands Chantiers organized by the Regroupement Québécois de la danse. His rich career path testifies to his commitment to the evolution and innovation of arts and culture in Quebec.
